The Asessippi Parkland trading area (generally defined as a 40 km radius around the region) is relatively large compared with other similar sized communities. The total population of the region and its trading area is approximately 15,000 people. The majority of the population is located within Manitoba although the trading area extends into Saskatchewan.

Bilingual Population
The trading area includes a number of communities, which have a significant population of French speaking and bilingual people. For example, in the R.M. of Ellice and the Village of St. Lazare, 28% and 46% of the respective populations use French as their first language.
These percentages are considerably higher than those for the City of Winnipeg, rural Manitoba and the Province of Manitoba as a whole, with an average French speaking population of 4%.
Uniform and Equal Population Mix
Population demographics by age and sex for the region show a relatively equal distribution of population, particularly among individuals in the 15 to 54 age categories. These age groupings account for approximately 50% of the region’s population.
The gender split is relatively equal across all age categories. Unlike many rural Manitoba areas, the percentage of people 60+ is relatively small in the region. Seniors account for less than one quarter of the total population.
